Maine Lumberjacks            87
13     They quickly crossed the ocean
For India's burning shore; Hard for any tongue to tell What Mary did endure,
14     When she found her strength was gone,
Her woe she strove to hide, And turning round with a pleasant smile, Saw Henry by her side.
15     The battle it was raging on;
A spear soon pierced his side: He never flinched nor left his post, But where he fell, he died.
16     She drew him from the bloody field
And in her arms she pressed, And as she sought to heal his wound, A ball passed through her breast.
17      " I fear you Ye deeply wounded,"
Young Henry he did say; "I fear you're deeply wounded; Your face is like the clay.
18      "When first since I saw your face,
T was you I did adore." They closed their eyes, no more to rise, On India's burning shore.
